“He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where He was staying and remained with Him that day.” John 1:39
Our Youth Group’s core value is based on John 1:39. We hear the Good News through scripture and proclaim Jesus to our neighbors, friends, and everyone we see. We invite youths of all race and color to come and see; we experience God’s presence and taste His love through worship. We challenge you to stay and become a member of our Youth Group. You will continue to learn about God and experience incredible fellowship in Christ. Finally, as disciples of Christ, we serve and follow Jesus in our daily lives.
Our Youth Group meets every Sunday at 12:30 PM after worship to study the Word of God that we heard through the Sunday sermon. We meet in two groups – middle school and high school – led by dedicated small group leaders to discuss, share, and examine bible passage from the Sunday sermon. The main purpose of the small group is for our youth to create a Christ-centered community, build relationship with God and enjoy fellowship in Christ. In addition to discussing the lessons learned from the Sunday sermon, our youth openly share their lives, hold each other accountable, and try to live out one truth every week.
- Our Middle School small group is led by Ms. Lillian Leem – lillianleem@gmail.com
- Our High School small group is led by Mr. Shawn Ahn – s.ahn37@gmail.com
We limit the size of each group to around 8 students, so as our Youth Group grows, we will have more small groups.
Every Saturday, our Youth Group meets to enjoy various activities as well as have discussion and share about Christian worldview on real-life issues. At UKPC, we believe that church is for training our youth to be effective Christians who can expand the kingdom of God. The primary goal of IGNITE – our Saturday evening ministry – is to enable our youth to learn and enjoy what it means to have fellowship in Christ, equip our youth with the Words of God to have a clear Biblical world view, and train our youth to be servants and be salt and light of the world.
Throughout October (2017), we will use a curriculum called “The Way I am Wired” to examine ourselves and how we can be more effective disciples of Christ. The topics we will cover include:
- Understanding your spiritual gifts
- Rethinking motives, relationships, and use of time
- Knowing your strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
- Praying for courage, perseverance, and miracles
- Writing your lifetime dream statement
- Surrendering all to Jesus
